Beta Birmingham returns welcoming one of the UK's most respected imprints Colony Productions to Brum Town for an exclusive label showcase.
Mouldy Soul [live]
Mouldy Soul is the warped electronic ramblings of 23 year old child Richard Carrigan. Mouldy Soul?s style could be described as an irresistible mixture of funky grooves over a backdrop of intricate glitched up beats, served on a gleaming platter of delectable bass with a side of luscious lead soup. With support from artists like Tipper, Opiuo, Vent, Hedflux, AMB, Mood Deluxe, Stickybuds and Prometheus; it?s no surprise how far Mouldy Soul has come in a little under a year.
Colony Productions founder Mike Wallis has been releasing music for over a decade with solo material on Hymen Records and Pyramid Transmissions under the pseudonym Psi Spy, he is one half of Crunch with Tipper and one half of Abstrakt Knights with label co owner Sam Ashwell (aka Vent). Mike has been busy in the studio working on new material which will be surfacing this summer after the next Bran and Vent releases on Colony.
Since 2000 Andy has held down DJ residences at Perverted Science, Wang and Scand in London, The Lost Mine in Birmingham and UFO in Plymouth. His DJing has also taken him further afield to Germany, France, Belgium and the USA, where he’s played for the Electro Alliance in Miami, E.L.M. in California and Outside in Charlotte. In terms of production, Andy has been busy releasing tracks on labels such as District Six, Millennium, Outside, Touchin Bass, Ai and Pyramid Transmissions.
This and more for a pittance of only £3! More details to follow_

FRIDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2012
Beta Birmingham is back with the first of our bi-monthly events for 2012 featuring one of the pioneers of the UK Glitch Hop scene ... Beta are proud to present William Breakspear (Skanky Panky / Rocstar Recordings)
William Breakspear is ready and set to lead the charge on the UK scene with his unique take on the ever expansive bass music genre bridging the gap between the contemporary sounds of ghetto funk and glitch hop. In 2009 he launched Skanky Panky Records alongside fellow Liverpool dwellers and long time cohorts sixAM. Skanky Panky has since established itself as one of the leading lights of the UK glitch hop scene with an expansive remit that has brought together low end theories from all four corners of the globe, ensuring bass fanatics are consistently catered for with their high quality releases and dedication to getting all our parties started.

However, it doesn't stop there! In support we have Beta's very own MPD Samurai Defunkt Dialekt (Beta Birmingham, Spacebar Sentiments, [k]racktroni[k])
I could attempt to describe, but I can't match this Dialekt. "Like a marble in a tin can strapped to a hookers leg performing acts of sexual deviance with a 30 stone goth on crack recorded with cardioid microphones to capture the suttle nuances of the microconspiracy being played out by the autonamous self replicating darwinian apes, reconstructed into binary computations for the electromagnetic creation of localized air pressure disturbances captured in biological form as the systematic firing of nervous system reflexes to form a abstract neurological construct interpreted by a randomly wired neural network as intricate patterns of dissonant frequency's evolving logically creating chemical stimulations resulting in the movement of the ape liteners posterior fat deposits ..... ..........Note: the listener must be within the 96+DB range of the audio-ironic frequency's for the Defunkt Dialekt effect to take place........... Defunkt Dialekt has been ISO-90002 certified."

Next up are Beta's DJ Switch (aka Tony '3 Times' – so called for his three back-to-back world DMC DJ championship titles) and Automaton (Beta Birmingham, Satamile) showcasing 'The bridge' between Rane's Serato and Ableton Live.
Finally support from Dr Pepperspray and Beta label architect Terrorbyte will ensure we get 2012 started with more bear hips than a 70's porn flick and more inebriating hops than a Belgian weisse beer factory
All this compounded with multi-player arcade games and the futuristic video maps of Blendstate https://www.facebook.com/ blendstate for only £3!!!!!!

THURSDAY 22ND DECEMBER 2011
Prepare to shake your looty!!
Beta Birmingham will be celebrating the launch of our second album 'Anty Riot Squad' at newly opened The End [formerly Bar Academy] from 10pm till 4am hosting:
Wobble N Dubb
Dual-laptop mayhem and improvised rave from Micoland & Naffdogg. Their unique brand of mashed-up Techno takes on Dubstep, Breakcore, Dancehall, and IDM with ruthless disregard for the rules. Wobble n Dubb’s incendary live shows have become infamous in the Leeds rave scene, and their debut LP is now available from www.dead-channel.com
From an early age inaudible had a passion for music and badly tailored suits, the former being a blessing in disguise as, born with a speaker for a head, he was never going to get a job as a librarian or Taylor. Playing music from any one of many badly named, blog friendly, flash-in-the pan band-wagon genres, inaudible always delivers.
Automaton is the prodigal love child of 2 major UK soundsystems. The infamous hip hop event 'Scratch Club', and the fabled electronic music event 'Earko'. His music is a mix of electronica and hip hop ... with a bit of dub mixed in.
One third of junglist badmen Lionfire with an EP due to be released later this year on Ray Keith’s long standing imprint as well as having various tracks featured on ‘Dub Dread 4’ and a heap of things in the works! Jinx is a major player in the Birmingham jungle fraternity.
One of the slickest producers in Birmingham with a stack of dark techy drum and bass at his disposal, Phibes will make your bingo wings flap about like a granny in a hurricane.
Architect of the Beta Birmingham and FHT imprints, from robots to ragga and glitch to gabber, Terrorbyte specialises in hybrid bass hip hop and ghetto grime funk step.
Play Space Invaders and a host of other games on the projector with our guests 8 Bit Lounge whilst we dish out a dangerously fresh barrage of nefarious bass glitches and stuttered synchopation.
This is a FREE EVENT at which we will be giving away 50 copies of the CD to the first 50 people to come and show their support!
